Tell us about yourself and what you do

My name is Kai Wang, and I’m a Thai-Chinese male model with a passion for fashion and entertainment. Raised in Thailand, my journey in the fashion industry began with a fascination for the transformative power of clothing and self-expression. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with prestigious fashion brands and publications such as Dior, Vogue, and Valentino, both as a model and behind the scenes. Currently based in Los Angeles, I continue to pursue opportunities that allow me to contribute to the dynamic landscape of fashion and entertainment, from magazine features to wardrobe assistance for Chinese television dramas and movies. My goal is to inspire others with my cross-cultural background and versatile talent, while also pushing the boundaries of creativity and representation in the industry.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?

I’ve been fortunate to draw inspiration from a variety of sources throughout my life. However, if I were to pinpoint one individual who has profoundly influenced me, it would be my parents. Coming from a Thai-Chinese heritage, they instilled in me the values of hard work, resilience, and cultural pride from a young age. Their unwavering support and belief in my dreams have been the driving force behind my journey in the fashion and entertainment industry. Their ability to navigate challenges with grace and determination inspires me to push beyond my limits and pursue excellence in everything I do.

What is your greatest achievement so far?

While every milestone in my career holds significance, I believe my greatest achievement lies in my ability to transcend cultural boundaries and establish myself as a respected figure in the global fashion scene. From gracing the runways of renowned fashion weeks to collaborating with top-tier brands and publications, I’ve had the privilege of representing diversity and inclusivity in an industry often characterized by exclusivity. Moreover, my venture into the entertainment industry, particularly my contributions to Chinese television dramas and movies, has allowed me to showcase my versatility as an artist. Each project, whether big or small, contributes to my personal and professional growth, making every achievement a testament to my dedication and passion.

Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?

Breaking into the fashion and entertainment industry can be challenging, but it’s not impossible with the right mindset and approach. My advice to aspiring individuals is to stay true to yourself, embrace your unique identity and heritage, and never shy away from opportunities to learn and grow. Networking is key in this industry, so don’t hesitate to build genuine connections with industry insiders and peers. Additionally, invest in your skills and talents, whether it’s through formal education, workshops, or self-directed learning. Lastly, perseverance is essential. Rejection and setbacks are inevitable, but they shouldn’t deter you from pursuing your dreams. Keep honing your craft, stay resilient, and trust that your hard work will eventually pay off.
