In the winter, many of us are concerned with our health. We’re looking for ways to boost our immune systems and beat winter coughs and colds. But, most of us are guilty of neglecting our senses entirely. You might get the occasional eye test, and you might unconsciously protect your sense of touch by wearing gloves when it is cold and applying hand cream when the winter weather has caused them to dry out. Your hearing, however, might not have been tested since you were a child, if at all.
We tend to assume that our hearing will serve us well until we enter old age. Unfortunately, however, this isn’t always the case. Your hearing can start to deteriorate much earlier than you’d like without care and attention. Here’s a look at some of the ways that you can take care of your hearing health.

Loud noises aren’t always avoidable. Sometimes, something loud happens near us without warning, and we have no chance to prepare ourselves. But, this isn’t always the case. If you know that you are going to be in a loud environment, protect your hearing with earplugs or noise-canceling headphones.
Being cold won’t directly hurt your hearing. But, catching a cold, or becoming unwell, can lead to ear infections, which, if left untreated, can cause damage to your eardrum, and even permanent hearing loss.
Wrap up warm. Wear a hat that covers your ears when you are outside. Then, find other ways to boost your immune system, especially in the winter, when there are a lot of bugs going around. If you do start to feel unwell, take some time off, rest, and see a doctor if you need to.
Get it Tested

Stop Cleaning Them

If you are using a Q tip or something similar to clean your ears, stop. Pushing anything into your ear could cause damage. Instead, gently clean the outside without going into your ear canal. If you have a problem with waxy build-up, first soften and then carefully pull out the wax. Never stick anything in.
Reduce Your Stress Levels
Did you know that stress can damage your hearing? Stress can cause damage to all areas of your body, and the increased blood pressure can be especially harmful to your ears. Find ways to manage your stress to take care of your ear health.
Exercise boosts your circulation, delivering blood and oxygen to all areas of your body, ears included. Try to get three cardio workouts a week and practice yoga, which can be a significant boost to your senses.
