There are some cities around the world that have a life of their own. For the most part, we will name countries that we would all like to visit like Australia, Italy, or Cuba, but there are some places that stand so far out above the rest that we name the city itself. New York is one of those places; it stands tall as one of the cities in the world that is top of travel bucket lists for many people. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at why NYC is so special.
Attractions
It is fair to say that there is so much to do in New York that the fact the city never sleeps is a huge blessing. You’ll be able to grab a slice of pizza on the go as you try to get around all the different parts of this infamous town, and here are some of the things you will want to be seeing and doing.
- Theatre
There are many things that come to mind when you think of New York, and Broadway is going to be near the top of that list. It is hard to think of many places in the world that have taken this form of entertainment and turned it into such an iconic thing. The West End of London may be the original, but the Broadway NYC shows are where the action often gets started.
Try to ensure that you get into a theatre or two while you’re in the city to catch a show. There is a broad range from famous plays to modern musicals that should catch the imagination of even the most stubborn of travelers.

- Architecture
Sticking with the things that evoke thoughts of New York, architecture is going to be near the top. If there is one thing that New York has over any other city is its number and size of skyscrapers. The race to reach the sky started in New York and is demonstrated through stunning structures such as the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center. These monuments to human engineering stand tall and proud on the New York skyline, and a trip to the top of each will give you a stunning perspective of this magnificent city.
Tall buildings are just one part of the incredible architecture that you will come across in New York. Just off of the main island you will see the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of hope to so many over the past few centuries.
Outside of NYC
One of the other great things about New York is that it isn’t just the city that is worth a visit. The state of New York has some of the most popular attractions anywhere in the world – none more impressive than Niagara Falls. This natural phenomenon straddles the border of the US and Canada and can easily be reached by car from New York City. It isn’t to be missed and there are tours aplenty from the capital of the state so you have no excuse.
