Stylish Winter Travel Essentials

Since there’s no way in hell we can pull of a flattery skirt and a simple logo tee due to this perpetual freezing forecast, we need to find better, more weather-appropriate solutions to keep our travels stylish, healthy and beautiful.

It might seem like an impossibility, considering the sheer number of layers we need to put on and the diet changes we need to make, but bear with me, because winter does have its special charm, and it can transcend the chill, and give your holiday travel a special, jolly feel!

Arming yourself with health

As any medical professional will tell you, prevention is the key to health and longevity, and the same strategy applies to your winter travel preparations, as the healthier you are, the greater your chances of enjoying your trip. First of all, make sure that your diet is under control, even during those lengthy flights and hours you might spend sightseeing – bring homemade snacks rich in micronutrients, and never skip your daily meals!

Then again, since ‘tis the flu season, you might want to consider reinforcements to your nutrition, such as getting cheap supplements for an added punch of vitamins and minerals that will keep your immune system relentless. No need to splurge on basic nutritional additions, but you should make sure to always have them handy, even when on the road.

Master the winter outfit

Now that you’ve prevented the so unstylish sniffles and fevers, you can devote your attention to the creation of your travel wardrobe! And yes, the key lies in layers, hence the need to find the most comfortable, yet lovely items in your closet that will also match each other effortlessly, and make it easy for you to mix and match.

First of all, a pair of jeans is a must-have, either in classic denim blue, or in coal black for easier combining. Then, a sweater is needed to fend off the cold, while a woolen coat is your go-to warmth-keeper. You can also consider a turtleneck, in case you’d like extra warmth under the scarf. As for your travel outfit, you can wear a pair of warm leggings, ankle boots and an oversized knitted sweater, which is this season’s absolute favorite.

If it gets exceptionally cold, you can always wear your basic tee underneath your sweater, and a pair of tights underneath your jeans or leggings!

Toasty accessories never to leave behind

When temperatures head below zero, winter-friendly accessories deserve a special segment of their own – because if you forget to take them along, you’ll likely have to spend more on buying them wherever you’re going. So, before you zip up your bag, check if you’ve packed your gloves (or mittens, you decide which are comfier), a scarf, or even two if you need a more sleek and stylish pashmina for a formal occasion, a knit hat or a beanie, depending on your purpose of travel.

In order to give an extra fun touch to your outfits, pack a belt or two to embellish your jeans, while earrings can be your go-to add-ons for any event. Also, if you plan to spend most of your time outdoors, perhaps a pair of leg warmers combined with your ankle boots will give you extra insulation.

Winter skincare essentials

Although you cannot bring all of your lovely bottles and packs of creams, lotions and masks, you still need to make sure that before you embark on your journey, as well as during your stay abroad, you need to care for your complexion properly.

Luckily for us, there are multipurpose products nowadays (cleansers, toners and moisturizers come in a single bottle for example) that come in travel-friendly sizes as well, but you can also go au naturel and use one ingredient for various causes – organic coconut oil, for instance, cleanses your skin, moisturizes it, and it’s an incredible lip balm, and a hair mask at the same time! Still, take a handy cream with you at all times, so that you can slather some of that rich goodness whenever you feel your skin is parched.

I totally agree with all the tips you shared! Winter can be brutal but if we take care ourselves, hopefully we can all be alright and survive the cold haha!
