Although Phong Nha-Ke Bang is famous for domestic tourism, international tourism hasn’t really kicked off here so it’s still a great place to discover!
Phong Nha-Ke Bang World Heritage
The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is one of the World Heritage Sites which isn’t as popular as the rest of the sites listed under UNESCO. This national park is not easy to spot on the map and not a lot of overseas travelers have explored this place. Although the park is famous for domestic tourism, international tourism hasn’t really kicked off here so it’s still a great place to discover! A place where a lot of locals come from in and around the city.
World’s largest cave
The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is covered in caves and the world’s largest cave is here. It’s so large you can fit in the entire city of Manhattan into it. The cave is called Hang Son Doong doesn’t get as many visitors and the park doesn’t plan on increasing footfall here either. The authorities have limited the visit to a mere 300 visitors per year. If you want to get here, you need to shell out around $3000. To get to the Hang Son Doong you need to cross the Phong Nha Ke Bang which is a 34 km stretch of rock. Although this cave is just plain rock, it’s called a paradise cave and the experience here is amazing.
On your bucket list
There are a number of unique features you can explore here. It begins with a huge cavern which is larger than an actual stadium. It also has some limestone columns which have been lit up for visitors. If you’re planning to do something unique that not a lot of people have done before, you should include a visit to the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park as one of the places to visit. Every moment here spent is worthwhile and you will go home with memories you will cherish for a lifetime.
