We recently had the opportunity to interview Australian actress Bella Valentini who is part of an exciting new breed of actresses to look out for in 2021. The Sydney based actress is currently shooting her second lead role in a feature film for 2021, after earlier wrapping filming on the anticipated comedy, Malibu Crush, in which she plays the role of Emma. Malibu Crush had it’s cast and crew screenings at Fox Studios earlier this month and is on track for a release this Summer in the US.
Here is our interview with Bella talking about Malibu Crush, Life advice and Netflix.

When did you first start acting?
I first started acting around 2-3 years ago.
What are you currently watching on Netflix this month?
I’m actually watching quite a few series at the moment so I guess you could say I like to change things up! Recently I’ve been watching ‘Schitts Creek’, ‘Outlander’, ‘The Serpent’ & ‘Halston’. I also recently watched ‘Deadly Illusions’ and ‘Things Heard & Seen’, because who doesn’t love a good psychological thriller?
What are some stand out moments you had filming Malibu Crush?
There are so many stand out moments when you work with such an amazing cast and crew. I really enjoyed filming at a Golf Club and getting to ride around in the buggies. One particular moment that stands out was filming a comedic scene where one character runs another character down with a golf buggy. It was hilarious! I also enjoyed filming at Bondi Beach and witnessing James Pratt’s character ‘Michael’ riding a kids skateboard off the Bondi Beach seawall as part of the date scene.
How would you describe your character, Emma in Malibu Crush?
I’d describe Emma as the typical beachy ‘girl next door’ type. She’s bubbly, wholesome, fun and easy-going. Emma’s character is also an assistant director and has big dreams to one day become a successful director in Hollywood. She is a very bright and determined person but at the same doesn’t take herself too seriously.
Is there anything about Emma that is similar to yourself?
Yes definitely! Like Emma, I am a pretty down to earth, vivacious and easy-going person. I also have dreams to make it to Hollywood one day as well, but as a well-established actress. Additionally, similar to Emma’s character, I am also a very determined person, but at the same time I don’t take myself too seriously.
What’s the best advice you have been given in life?
“Fake it until you make it”
This saying really resonates with me because I truly believe that even if you don’t actually feel confident, if you project confidence and force yourself out of your comfort zone, you will eventually achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. In other words, portray yourself as the person you want to become and you will eventually become that person.
