Tell us about yourself and what you do
I am a singer-songwriter. I write songs in the style similar to Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan. My music is based on poetry that I write. When I write a song, I am not satisfied unless the song is really imaginative, creative, and has a “wow” moment for the listener.
On my website, I have a number of pages that are dedicated to songs with metaphors and interesting songs with similes. I spend a lot of time thinking about interesting imagery and storylines that I can present in the songs so the songs aren’t just a nice sound, but something much richer.
Who has inspired you in your life and why?
I love listening to inspirational music that isn’t just fun, but also makes me think and feel. It’s magical when music does that to me, and my goal with my music is to make my listener explore ideas and emotions. I think it’s one of the coolest and most interesting things a person can do. It’s a real gift that artists bestow on their listeners.
What is your greatest achievement so far?
Perhaps sticking with it and being consistent is my biggest achievement so far. It’s important that I still improve at my craft and hone my skills. I have not achieved stardom of any type, but I do play at some small bars around New York city, and I have a small but growing social media presence.
I think the best thing I can say is that every few months or so, I find a skill to hone, and turn some weakness into a strength or at least no longer a weakness. So this constant improvement is likely my biggest achievement so far.
Besides all that, I am proud of a few songs I’ve written. Many of my songs have a “slice of life” which makes them feel relatable. Here is a page with a number of relatable songs that I put together. And here is a page with a few songs about living life.
Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break into the industry?
I don’t have any great tips except on focusing on constant, long-term improvement. A little step to getting better each day will take you miles. Of course, everyone wants to succeed right away. I do too. But that’s just not the reality for most people. Most people have to consistently work hard and create their luck.
