Wash your beard thoroughly and if a conditioner is available, use it too. It will help in softening the hair and give your beard a defined look.

Beard shampoo and conditioners are easily available from any drug store. Use it as the directions are given.

Step 2:

Be very sure about what style you are going to pick. There are various beard styles like

  • Short Stubble.
  • Goatee Beard.
  • Extended Goatee.
  • Imperial Beard.
  • Van Dyke Beard.

The list goes on and on, but the point is that if you never had a beard before. Search for a while and choose the one you like and which suits you better. Beard trimming techniques vary from style to style. Choose the technique according to your style.

Step 3:

Step three is to choose the right equipment. With the passing time, every day a new equipment is introduced in the market for your convenience. If you go to the drug store, they will show you a huge variety of stuff. If you are not good at instant decision making, search your equipment beforehand. Usually, beard trimmers are most commonly used nowadays. They are more portable and feasible as compared to other materials. The chances are things going wrong are much lesser with a beard trimmer.

Also, trimmers come with a variety of tools. You can set the setting according to the thickness of beard you want.

Step 4:

If you have good and stable grip, you can use mustache scissors. They can only be used to redefining the edges like upper lips and lower lips. You can give the finishing touch using the trimmer too, but you need to have some practice for that. If you are a beginner, try using the scissors in the starting.

Step 5:

When you are done with the face.  It’s time to clear the neck. Clear the neck with “u” shape cutting along the chin. Now here the trimmer won’t help, you will have to shave it. Clear everything down your neck down till the collar bones.

At last, apply most moisturizing oil to your whole face, especially newly shaven areas.
