Where to Stay when Planning your Trip

The best place for you to stay in Yosemite would be for you to try and go within the boundaries of the park. Sure, this is more expensive when compared to staying out of the park but at the end of the day, it is well worth it. Lodging is limited though so you will need to make sure that you book your stay way ahead of time. Ideally, this will need to be done months ahead of your stay. A lot of the properties might look old or somewhat outdated but that doesn’t matter, you should stay there anyway. Yosemite National Park is huge, and you will need to drive for an hour or so just to make it inside the park every day if you choose to stay in a cheaper hotel. If you stay within the park however, then you can easily gain an extra 3 or so hours in the day. This time can be much better spent enjoying the views instead. Early mornings and late evenings, or any time after 5pm tend to be the most peaceful times of the day. Additionally to this, you may find that traffic is a huge issue in Yosemite. Someone at the front desk will probably tell you how long it takes to park when you get there if you are staying out of the area. If you want, you can even ask the hotel if they can give you access to the pool and with a huge range of onsite dining options, it is safe to say that you will not at all be disappointed.

Seeing the Best Sights at Tunnel View

This is one of Yosemite’s top things to do. If you want to take a lot of photos when you go to the area, then make sure that you do not miss out on Tunnel View. This is a true, panoramic viewpoint and it is also very accessible. You just have to make sure that you pull into one of the many parking lots that are right next to the famous Wawona Tunnel, get out of your car and then take in some of the stunning, sweeping views. If you go from Tunnel View, then you can see a lot of famous landmarks including El Capitan and even the Half Dome. If you go down the road, then you may be able to see the viewing area for the Bridalveil Fall. If you would much rather get a closer look, then this is something that you will not want to miss out on. Yosemite Falls is another must-see attraction if you want to visit the area. You will want to get a close-up look if you can but at the end of the day, it is very easy for you to stand back and see it at Cooks Meadow if you want.

For some of the most epic views around, make sure that you do not overlook Glacier Point. The views of the Half Dome, Nevada Falls and even Vernal Falls are truly out of this world, and the viewpoint is also incredibly accessible as well. There is tons of parking nearby for you to access and it is not to be missed.

Hiking and Adventures

It is a good idea for you to plan out some big hikes as well as some smaller walks if possible. if you do the Upper Yosemite Falls trail, then you should know that this is listed as being strenuous and they certainly mean it. The hike is tough even for those who have a good level of fitness. The upper trail is around 7 miles long and you will have to tackle stairs and switchbacks the whole way. It is also very steep, and in some places, you may find that it is very slippery too. It is so important that you take a ton of water with you as well as lots of snacks. You will also need to plan to spend around 8 hours doing the trail so that you can make enough time to relax after. There is no better way for you to become fully acquainted with the area on your first day, than by taking a walk around Cooks Meadow, if you are not an experienced hiker. The walk is only a mile long and you will be able to take in some of the most stunning views around. You also have the Half Dome which is right from the valley floor as well. The trail is a brilliant hike, and it is a great way for you to try and squeeze as much as you can into your visit. The mile loop will bring you to a bridge at the base of the waterfall and the spray of water will be very much welcomed. You should know that the trail isn’t super flat but at the end of the day, the incline is mild, and you also have a lot of the area which is paved, making for an easy trip.

So, it is very easy for you to make the most out of your trip if you know where to go in Yosemite. Why not see if any of the above locations appeal to you, and make sure that you also take the time to do your own research? That way you can uncover new places that may appeal to both you and your family. Remember that a big adventure is only ever around the corner and that it is very possible for you to have the best time if you simply know what is out there.
