Who doesn’t want to get rid of extra hair from their face and body? Having a smoother, silkier skin free of unwanted hair is the dream of every woman. There are several ways to remove unwanted hair from your body like waxing, shaving, using hair removal products like sprays and creams but none of these are a permanent solution. By all these procedures the hair is bound to come back after some time. So, how can one get rid of this unwanted hair permanently?
Some techniques by which we can get rid of body hair permanently are described below.
Electrolysis
It is an old technique and not popularly in use now, but it’s an effective way to remove hair permanently. It works on the principal of electrolysis, i.e. current is given to the root of hair follicle. It’s extremely fruitful especially in the case of pubic hair. A metal rod is used to transfer current to the roots of hair follicles which damages and destroys them. But keep in mind to go to a professional as pubic area is very sensitive.
Light Based techniques
Other popular techniques used for permanent hair removal are light based techniques. These techniques include laser treatment and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).
Laser
It is the most popular method for permanent hair removal, which is highly effective for large areas. It uses monochromatic coherent light as the light source. It targets the melanin in the hair follicle creating permanent results. And after few sessions you can get rid of those unwanted hair permanently.
IPL
IPL or intense pulsed light works on the same principle as a laser. But it uses a broadband pulsed light source to remove hair. The process is similar to laser treatment, it also uses light to target the melanin in the hair follicle and damaging it, after sometime the growth is stopped creating permanent results.
Differences between IPL and Laser; which one is better?
Here the question arises what’s the difference between IPL and laser? Honestly speaking, there’s as such no proper difference between the two techniques; both uses light rays to damage the melanin in the hair follicles resulting in permanent removal of hair.
Both methods are equally effective as their efficiency is not dependent on the technique, but it depends on the client. The fairer the skin and darker the hair; the more effective are the results.
The results for blond hair are not that much good as compared to darker hair colors.
Professional laser treatment is more popular as it is better suited for darker skin tones.
One difference between IPL and laser is that in IPL more area is covered in lesser time where as in laser lesser area can be covered as it targets a small patch at a time.
Laser IPL
Benefits of IPL
It can be used at home, as there are certain devices available in market. It requires lesser time as compared to laser as the coverage area of IPL devices is larger. So, it’s relatively cheaper.
Benefits of Laser
It is more suitable for people with darker skin tones as compared to IPL. It’s very precise and effective and leaves the surrounding skin unaffected.
