Our fashion tastes are often a bit ambitious. You might see yourself draped in designer labels, but your purse says otherwise. It’s still possible to put together some great outfits with cheaper clothes, but it’s just not the same. The dream of designer labels seems so far out of reach, but that doesn’t have to be the case. There are ways that you can get your hands on the latest collections without bankrupting yourself. With a bit of knowledge about the market trends and the way that branding works, you can beat the market and wear designer labels for less.

Look At Other Collections

The well-known collections always come with the highest price tag but there are often other collections by the same designer available. You’ll need to search for them, but you can get the same quality for a lot less money, just by buying from collections that are branded differently.

Capsule collections are much smaller collections that showcase two or three of the designers best pieces. They can be mass produced because there are only a few items, so the prices are significantly lower. You’ll get the same name, and quality, so there’s no real difference between these items and the more expensive ones.

Bridge Lines are collaborative collections between the big designers and a lower-priced retailers. The designers come up with a collection and then it is manufactured by the retailer, using their cheaper methods. The designs will be the same, but be aware, that the quality might not be as good as the more expensive designer labels.

A lot of big designers also do budget ranges of their main brand. Marc by Marc Jacobs is one good example of this, but there are plenty out there. You won’t be wearing the same stuff that you see in the magazines, but if you are on a tight budget, it’s good enough.

Sales And Discounts

It goes without saying that one of the best ways to get cheap clothes is during sales. Look online for flash sale sites. They have massively discounted pieces on offer, but they are only available for short periods, so snap up the deals while you can. You should also look out for websites like DontPayFull.com where you can find great discount codes that get you money off your favorite brands.

The Off Season

If you’re buying designer clothes, you’re naturally going to want the latest collections. Unfortunately, you might not be able to stretch to that, so you’ll need to make some sacrifices. Shopping in the off season is a great way to make big savings. Fashion moves fast; the big players wouldn’t be caught dead wearing last season’s collections. You can’t afford to be that fussy, and there’s still plenty of good pieces available in the old collections, and the prices plummet as soon as the season is over. When you’re shopping off season, you need to be careful. Look for classic pieces that are still going to be in style for at least a few years. That way you can get good quality designer clothes without the hefty price tag.
