6 Ways to Get Rid of Sunspots Naturally

sunspots, sun spots

Sun spots typically keep you from enjoying the sun. They usually happen when your skin’s been in the sun for too long, thanks to its ultraviolet rays – which can be harsh. No area of your skin is off limits: your cheeks, upper lip, arms, etc. Another problem is that they’re hard to cover up with make up. Here are 6 ways to naturally get rid of sun spots in a jiffy.

1. Aloe Vera

This ingredient has been phenomenally celebrated as a “go-to” first aid for many health problems. Aside from this, it’s also an antioxidant and antibacterial with 18 amino acids. This means it improves digestion, heals skin ailments, relieves muscle pain, and has a whole lot of other benefits. To use; apply fresh gel from an aloe leaf directly on the area with dark spots. Leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash off. Repeat 2-3 times a day for maximum results. If your spots are severe, you may need an alternative treatment of sun spot removal sessions.

2. Lemon

I’ve made a habit of buying lemons every time I hit the grocery stores. They improve heart health, wake you up in the morning and many other benefits. They’re also a great treatment for skin problems. Simply squeeze the juice from a lemon into a bowl. Dip a cotton ball into the bowl and apply it to the affected area. Let sit for half an hour and wash it off. Repeat daily.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

This is another item I never run out of. ACV is considered a “superfood” because it cleanses out your system. When you drink it in the morning (with water, lemon juice, etc.) it enhances your immune system, detoxes your body, and improves your skin – from the inside. This is because alpha hydroxyl acids in the product give you a protection against sun rays. Simply add a tsp. of ACV to 8 oz. of water. Add raw honey to taste. Drink twice a day for optimal results.

4. Onion Juice

Like them or hate them, onions have a secret ingredient: sulfur compounds. This means they’re an antiseptic with acids. These acids help exfoliation. All you need to do to clear up sun spots is cut up an onion and rub the slices over them 2-3 times a day.

5. Buttermilk

I was a little skeptical when I heard about this for the first time. But, sure enough, this method worked just as effectively in the past. This is because of the lactic acid found in buttermilk, which tends to lighten up the skin naturally, thus reducing brown spots. All you have to do is dip a cotton swab in a bowl of buttermilk. Apply it on the affected area. Let sit for 20 minutes. Wash off.

6. Tomato

Tomatoes are my go-to whenever my acne problems are getting hard to handle. This is because of their “whitening” effect on the skin and they decrease pores. They’re rife with vitamin A and Vitamin C, making them extremely beneficial for preventing and eliminating excessive facial oil. Since tomatoes also have gentle, natural bleaching properties, they’re phenomenal for treating dark spots. Simply cut up a slice and rest it on your face for 10 minutes. Remove and wash your face.

Conclusion

In order to optimise your skin, it’d be wise to include these natural ingredients into your diet on a daily basis. That way you can reap the benefits from the inside, giving your skin a natural protection from the sun. This prevents sun spots from even appearing on your skin.
