5 Important Things That Coronavirus Has Shown Us We’ve Taken For Granted

Spring is well and truly upon us. And at this time of renewal, rebirth and growth now is the perfect time to take stock of our lives and reassess what really matters. Especially in the face of a global pandemic, the effects of which may still be seen for years to come. If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance that you have been personally affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. You may have caught the virus and gotten better or you may have a family member who has contracted it. Worse still, you may have already lost a loved one. Even if you’re one of the lucky ones whose health has been unaffected, there’s a good chance that your work and / or your income have been affected as businesses and governments alike grapple with this once-in-a-generation pandemic.

Still, while we may bemoan the loss and disruption that the virus has wrought for us, let’s take a moment to take stock of the little things that we’ve been taking for granted. The things, and people, that we should all try and appreciate more. Such as…

Our healthcare workers

If you’re reading this and you work as a doctor, nurse or in any form of health or social care you have the thanks for the world. While the rest of the world has wound down, you’ve wound up. Facing personal risk (some doctors have already made the ultimate sacrifice in keeping us safe) to defend our health. The world will not forget how much you matter!

Our gyms

There are lots of ways in which you can get a full-body workout at home. But, let’s be honest, it really isn’t the same. Being in a fully equipped gym like Fitness 19 makes it easier to get access to the equipment that gets the most out of your workouts. What’s more, because you’re working out among other people, it’s much harder to give up or to give yourself a pass for slacking off. Fitness enthusiasts around the world are now realizing just how much they took their gyms for granted.

Our local businesses

From your local cafes, bars and restaurants to your hair or nail salon, you never realized just how invaluable your local businesses were until now. Make sure you give them your support when the wheels of commerce begin to turn properly once again. They’ll need your patronage more than ever before.

Our homes

Many of us are spending most, or all, of our time at home. What better time to give what’s between your four walls a little extra TLC? As well as the usual spring clean, think about how you can minimize clutter, bring the outside indoors with plants and flowers and focus more on natural materials in your decor. All of this can make your home a more relaxing and stress-free space in which to live and work.

Our friends and families

Finally, in this time of self-isolation, we’re all coming to regret the extent to which we’ve taken friends, family and loved ones for granted. We’ll all be holding them extra tight when the lockdown has lifted. But in the meantime, there’s no reason whatsoever why you can’t tell them just how special they are to you over the phone or via voice chat. Why not make someone’s day with an unexpected phonecall.
