3 Major Body Goals & How To Reach Them

There is no doubt that the body is an important part of ourselves. As long as you are happy with the body, you can probably say that you are noticing a number of other positive benefits to that too. If you are not quite happy with your body, there are a number of things that you can do to change that. Most of all, you should spend some time identifying what one major goal you want to achieve – ideally only one at a time – and then work towards doing that. Let’s take a look at three of the major body goals that people tend to have, and how you can hope to reach them too.

No matter what, slimming probably remains the most common goal that people have with their bodies. If you are hoping to lose weight, you will probably be aware that there are many ideas out there about how to do that. The problem is that there are so many, you might not know where to begin, or which is going to be right for you. That’s because there is no one right answer which applies to everybody. You have to try a few out for yourself and see what works. However, there are some things that are definitely always going to help, and you should first focus on making these specific changes.

The most important is diet. If you want to lose weight, you have to make sure that you are eating healthily. Calorie counting is not necessarily the way to go, and can actually make things more of a challenge in many cases, or even disrupt the process of losing weight considerably. The main thing is to make sure that you are eating plenty of fruits and vegetables – and not much else. If you follow that kind of diet, that’s all you really need to worry about from the nutrition side of things.

As well as that, you need to make sure that you are increasing your general activity levels. Start slow, and build up over time, otherwise you might fail to do this right. Begin by taking two runs a week, or a run on the treadmill once a week. Aim to increase that until you are exercising four times a week, but no more than that – there is such a thing as burnout, and too much exercise is not much good for you either.

On top of all that, there is one method which you might want to try, which is known to work and is gaining in popularity across the world right now. It’s suitable for anyone who doesn’t have specific dietary needs that might prohibit the practice, and who doesn’t have a history of eating disorders. With intermittent fasting, you can hope to dramatically accelerate the process of losing weight, as well as enjoying a number of other benefits to your health too. You start with 12 hours a day, overnight, and build up to whatever you are comfortable with – most people do 16:8, or you can do one meal a day that has everything you need in it. Try it for a month and you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.

With all that in place, you are probably going to lose weight easier than you had thought, so it’s definitely worth trying this stuff out right now.


Although traditionally it was always more often men who seeked to bulk up and gain muscle, today anyone might wish to do this, and there are almost as many female bodybuilders and male. Not that you are necessarily seeking to become a bodybuilder of course. There are many huge benefits to gaining some muscle: you will feel stronger and more capable, and that can translate into mental strength too. You are also able to burn fat more easily, which is a huge health advantage. You will also find that increased muscle has a way of building confidence.

Whatever your reason for wanting to have a little more muscle, it is just as likely to be fraught with difficulties as the attempt to slim down. Again, there are many theories out there, and you are going to have to work out which is right for you, which can be tough to achieve. However, as long as you find a way and stick with it, there is no reason you won’t be able to build considerable muscle in no time. Bulking up is actually much easier to do than you might have thought, if you approach it in the right way.

As with slimming, the main thing here is to recognise that it requires patience and takes time to bulk up. Most of all, you need to have the dedication to keep going every day. Without that, you are unlikely to make much of a difference to your muscles or your overall size. So what do you specifically need to do to gain muscle?

First of all, let’s talk about protein. There is a lot of confusion around protein. You do need protein if you are going to make sure your muscle grows – but you probably don’t need as much as you tend to assume. A normal healthy diet will give you enough protein, and you don’t need to look to supplements in order to merely gain muscle.

On top of that, make sure that you develop a strong workout plan for building muscle fast and strong. You want to make sure that you are working on every muscle group as well as you can. Leaving any out could end up with you looking a little lopsided or silly, or it could even lead to health issues. As well as working on the biceps and triceps, you also need to do some rear delt exercises, leg exercises, and back too. You will also need to work on your abs, to help complete the image.

As long as you do that, and you persist, you should find that you are going to be bulkier in no time.

Toning & Stretching

Another common goal is to tone the body. In truth, you will be doing this in tandem with either or both of the previous two goals, and it is rare that you will do it as a standalone thing. However, if you want to, then that is perfectly possible to do. So what exactly is toning, and why might you be interested in toning your body? You might be surprised to discover the answers to both of these questions.

Toning simply means that you are stretching out your muscles to where they should be, while helping to eliminate fat along the way. As you can see, it is best to do both at once. Toning is all about achieving an overall harmony or unity, and for that reason it is one of the most important parts of trying to look your very best. If you are not currently doing much to tone your body, there are some big habit changes that you might want to look into in order to make that happen.

One of the best things you can do if you hope to tone your body is to take up yoga. That will achieve a toned body very quickly, especially if you do it every morning. You only need to do half an hour a day to see some monumental changes in no time, so it is absolutely worth the effort doing so. As well as that, you might want to think about other forms of exercise to help lose weight and gain muscle, as above.

Then there are specific toning exercises which can help you to look much more toned in no time. If you look online you will find a lot of these, and it’s all about trying to find the one that is likely going to suit you best, which means experimenting with a number of them to see which works for you. Do that, and you will notice a difference soon enough.

As well as all of that, you need to make sure that you are eating well. That means a balanced diet which gives your body all that it needs, with a particular focus on eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. With that, you will be able to tone much more easily, and you will find that you can get the body you want in no time.

No matter what your own personal body goal might be – whether it is one of these, all of them, or something else entirely of your own choosing – you have to remember that it is always possible. Sometimes it takes a great deal of time and energy, and it is always going to require determination and patience. But if you keep going, you will eventually get there – and in every case you will feel more energetic, confident, and happy when you have done so. For that reason, you should make sure that you are thinking about doing this as soon as possible – to help enjoy your life a lot more.
